mobile disco roadshow CD (makeshift records) 2007
A limited edition live recording from 2004.
85 years ago, in 1920, a female African American, Mamie Smith, recorded the first ever blues record on the OKeh record label. This album is a tribute to her and the women who followed her: Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, Bessie Smith, Clara Smith, Victoria Spivey, and Memphis Minnie. OKeh is a studio recording of songs, ideas, and fragments that were collected over a two year period ... some of these were left intact and others distilled, forged, and processed into new beings. Dusty, open guitar is imbedded between tracks of uniquely manipulated guitar with a tiny bit of harmonica, recorder, and toy organ thrown in for further texture. Here is an album whose sounds shift smoothly from contemporary to erstwhile.
the insides of her insides 7" (seren records) 2004 A. the insides of her insides The inside of her insides was recorded live at St. Mary's
Church, Nottingham, at a gig with Cancel House and Urban Myth. It's a sweet, melting number, a simple riff dipped in a vat of syrupy
hallucinogens.
outside in CD (makeshift records) 2002
1. simple things that aren't mp3 This is inventive and captivating guitar; warm tones and drones soothe the soul while tensions get heightened by scrapes, pops, and crackles. Outside In is 53 minutes of music recorded live in the UK and Canada; ten heartbreakingly beautiful songs teeter on the brink of collapse while audiences hold their breath.
why can't we all just get along? compilation CD featuring 2 tracks from music for one 2002
s/t EP CD (makeshift records) 2001 1. ain't no wheels on this ship play/download A debut offering of instrumental music for a not so innocent time. Some songs are untouched guitar wanderings while others are built from guitar playing rendered unrecognisable through effects and processing. It's an emotional music that engages your mind on its way to your heart.
